Blizzard 2016

Newark was hit with more than two feet of snow. Please let us know about the City of Newark's response to the storm. Let us know what street you live on, what time it was plowed and whether it is passable now. We'll forward any complaints about streets not being plowed directly to administration of Mayor Ras Baraka. We'll compile this information so we know what the problems areas are for the next storm and work with the administration to better address these areas.

Here is my feedback…. I feel every Newark tax payer should boycott City Hall Feb. 1st! This city Is a disgrace and the administration running it Is a disgrace. They need to be held accountable and its head be fired! Incompetence at its finest!!!! No wonder it’s got the reputation it does….. We all want this credited on our tax bill for 2016!!!! That would be the right thing to do….

I live on 18 Jay Street and my street has not been plowed yet. It is impassible. This is a disgrace. I bet the mayor was able to get out of his home. What is he doing? It obviously isn’t his job. People on my street need to get to work, but we can’t because the street is still under two feet of snow. GET ON YOUR DAMN JOB MAYOR AND GET OFF YOUR ASS!!!! You should be ashamed of yourself!!!!!

Not one snow plow has come by I have witness more than a dozen vehicles getting stuck on my block nd unable to get out without several people assisting and hours of patience. I called out of work today cause I cannot get out but I refuse to let this city paralyze my life. Get with it Mayor Baraka!!!!! When Corey Bookwr was mayor we didn’t have to deal with this political bull crap

Most of Forest Hills still has not been plowed. I did see a plow on Abington Ave on 01/25/2016 @ 2am and I thought that Mayor Baraka was finally making some progress. Unfortunately as of 01/25/2016 2 1:50 pm Ridge street still has not been plowed. There are no vehicles blocking Ridge street or any other obstructions that would prevent a plow from quickly passing through. There is no excuse for this. I have a 4×4 pickup so I was able to make it over to some of the other wards. The West, North and South Wards have all been let down by the Mayor’s lack of effort. I hope that employers are sympathetic and understand that the Mayor is to blame not the employee. The roads in all of the surrounding towns (East Orange, Montclair, Bloomfield, Belleville and even Irvington) can be driven on. The response to this storm was PATHETIC.

This is ridiculous! I live by Park Elementary school and not one plow has come down this street. Some firemen tried to assist and all they did was plow the snow and block the other entrance this block has. Now here we are, Monday afternoon and snow everywhere and only one way in and one way out. With a school in the middle of the block. The ball was dropped big time with this one. They were aware that the snow was coming….how are

You not prepared! All other surrounding cities have clean roads….what an embarrassment to the City of Newark! Thank you Mayor!!

It’s hard to leave feedback on something that hasn’t been responded. No plows have gone through my street at all. I’m missing out on money because I can’t get to work. Nothing is getting done and it’s affecting everyone!

Utterly disgusted and beyond disappointed. EVEYONE wants a vote into office and can’t pull their weight once they are in. North Newark, from Bloomfield Ave to north 12 street and back are not plowed. Not a single plow. It’s been 24 hours since the storm. Couldn’t even get into the street. I know the mayor isn’t going to pay for my taxi ride or uber ride to get to work and school because we can’t get our cars out from the secondary streets that are not plowed.

Our street has been block by a city pick up since Saturday morning. It was left there due to fire. The city has not bother to remove there vehicle. Meanwhile the fire department wasn’t able to go through to respond to emergency. Our street remain covered in snow. The mayor send out an automated message providing incorrect emergency contact center #. Please help.

I live in Bloomfield and work in downtown Newark. I drive through North Newark and was just in shock. Whole blocks off of Bloomfield Avenue not plowed and mountains of snow at the end of the street leading onto Bloomfield Ave. how are people supposed to go to work? It took me an hour and a half to get to work today because of all the traffic and mountains of snow on even the main streets. The mayor should be out there assuring residents that they’re doing all that they can to clear the streets. Downtown is also horrible. I barely made it into my lot at work because the side street wasn’t touched by a plow.

Where are the snow plowers?? Everything is caos, they plowed Wilson Avenue yesterday and haven’t seen a snow plower yet. Not only main but adjacent streets need to be taken care of as well! I feel bad for my neighbors. Horrible response to the blizzard.

My street hasn’t been cleaned. How can I provide for my family and go to work. If you guys can’t do your job. This is not the first storm NJ has seen. By now your guys should have a better plan at getting our city up and running. Thank goodness no one here had had am emergency because an ambulance couldn’t get through. If there is and we can’t get medical attention it would all be on you. Spend less money on your salaries. Spend more money on getting workers out here and clean the streets.
