Blizzard 2016

Newark was hit with more than two feet of snow. Please let us know about the City of Newark's response to the storm. Let us know what street you live on, what time it was plowed and whether it is passable now. We'll forward any complaints about streets not being plowed directly to administration of Mayor Ras Baraka. We'll compile this information so we know what the problems areas are for the next storm and work with the administration to better address these areas.

We should not have piles of snow. I feel the snow should be removed completely. Also, how did the city manager to forget about the side/&or dead end streets. East Orange is spotless. We need better accommodations.

Highland Ave between Park Ave and Bloomfield is still yet to see any sort of plow. There are elderly and special needs residents on this street.

South 6th Street has yet to be plowed at 9:18 pm. A police car was stuck on our street over an hour due to the horrendous conditions.

I live on Broadway in the townhouses we were told by police to move or we will be towed or ticketed and even after digging out which was a handicap spot the trucks came by and just piled the snow in the spots we shoveled and they never really came back to finish the job. I live near a school and im obviously on a main street and it needs to be cleaned up the poor job left many double parked and without a space my mom has a paid for a handicap permit for a reason she cant walk far with or without snow..PLEASE CLEAN BROADWAY

Our street still has not been really plowed and it hasn’t been snowing for almost 24 hours. Instead of plowing and salting continuously, throughout the storm, so as to stay ahead of the problem, someone made the baffling decision to wait and then send out an auto-dial phone message from Mayor Baraka, blaming the residents? How is this leadership?

It’s so sad how these politicians act like they’re really concerned or care about the citizens of this town. Oh n let us know so “we can be prepared for the next one.” How about you being prepared for this one. Your sanitation department should have been out since yesterday afternoon plowing the streets, so that it wouldn’t be the mess it is today. Was there not a ban of cars on the road then, perfect time for them plows to go through. Then let’s see you ain’t got enough plows or they’re lazy to work, hire some damn contractors and pay them to work. The city has money, use it for instances like this. I bet your street is cleaned Mr. RAMOS while the rest of the citizens you serve suffer. Shame on you, the mayor and all the politicians who fail to act when needed, but show up at every rally when you want our votes!!!

I just drove into Newark from Texas for my brother’s funeral. I grew up here. It was never this bad. I have not encountered ONE street (main or secondary) that was plowed in any meaningful way. Thank God the good neighbors I used to live with in Forest Hill were around to help as we shoved each other’s cars at Heller and Ridge. This is disgusting. What on earth is being done about this? County roads in Branch Brook Park are beautiful. Don’t tell me this want possible.

VanBuren St not plowed and I haven’t seen a plow all weekend. People have to go to work but won’t be able to hence no pay but yet we have to pay taxes and the city doesn’t work. If a larger city like NYC can do it why can’t Newark???
