Please be advised that the site: newarkleadserviceline.com appears to be infected and my security software prevents me from accessing the website so I can request that my service line be checked.

This has been previously reported and yet this issue remains. Please ask the City IT Staff or the website vendor to run a security scan or contact me so I can send them my log files.

This needs to be quickly addressed as this lead issue is gathering steam and this will only make matters worse for our Citizens and those trying to provide services to them.

dear sir. I have tried on numerous occasions to contact your office to no avail. i have sent emails to no avail. I have called the police several times and yet nothing is done. We have lived in newark at the same location paying taxes for over 20 years and in one year our area is becoming a cesspool of illegal activity and no one seems to care. There is an auto repair shop on the corner of 1st avenue and rosevillle named felitos auto and they have cars parked allover the sidewalks on the street and they have illegal underage workers moving these vehicles to and from the location. There is a food truck that operates with out a license that plays loud music and sells liquor into the night and parks a trailer on the street and gets no tickets all this from this eyesore of a business. We need someone to look into the illegal car sales going on the illegal drug sales, repair work outside and in the street, illegal cars with no insurance plates etc. and drug use going on by their very own workers. Please try and do something about this before we have to move or someone get hurt.

Hello, just a quick note. I wonder if there is ANY enforcement of fireworks ordinances. It would be so great if officers in patrol cars could simply address situations in progress rather than leaving neighbors helpless. The other night I was driving north on Mt Prospect when I saw a literal PILE of FIREWORKS in the middle of the street between Elwood and Heller, exploding one after another. I am not kidding. I stopped and made a U-turn so I wouldn’t have to drive past or over them. [Later that night or the next morning I saw a report on RING that there had been a house fire, I believe on that very same block. Caused by fireworks, perhaps?] A few minutes later I was on Lake just south of Montclair. One block east, on Highland, someone was firing off a whole huge display of fireworks way up high into the sky just like you would see in a stadium or park. The burning embers descended all around the houses and lawns, even onto Lake St. Needless to say, I didn’t attempt to drive home on Highland. I went to Parker. On Parker, a guy had a rocket planted in the grass by the street, lit and angled out toward the street — um, I’m trying to DRIVE here and I have to do so not knowing if I’m going to be HIT with this stuff! What the heck is going on?? It’s so unsafe. Please advise! Thanks for listening. Reading all these comments, I guess you mostly hear from folks when they have complaints. Sorry about that!!

    Hello Councilman Ramos,

My name is Khalilah Bowens. I live in the North Ward. My 17 year old son, Ahnad Bowens-Garrison, has been working for the Summer Youth Employment program for the past two years and has enjoyed it very much. So imagine my surprise when I called today and was informed that this year they did a lottery and his name was not selected. He was looking forward to working again and earning some money for the summer. I was wondering if you know of any other job opportunities for someone his age during the summer. He’s a very smart and responsible kid. I don’t want him just sitting around all summer he needs to be proactive. My contact number is (201) 486-1207 and my email address is kbowens@hotmail.com. Please contact me if you can assist me in anyway.

I am not sure what the problem is, but it would be nice if the city would do their job. I put out my recycle as i’m required only to have to bring it back in. They are supposed to pick up every Friday, instead I get picked up every other week, but if I put in regular trash i’ll get a fine. Not to mention the bulk pick up which was scheduled for yesterday, and I am sitting here looking out my window and what do I see bulk pick up and recyclables. Is it really that difficult. I appreciate the huge flower pots on the corners in the upper Roseville area, but when there is still trash on the streets it takes away from what the city is trying to do. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hello I’m writing because yesterday on 6/11/19 I placed my bulk garbage out and today on 6/12/19 ther workers came to the house and left a broken down garage door sitting right in front of my house in the middle of the sidewalk, the people in front of my horse also had a garage door in their trash but theirs was taken, mine wasn’t, we all know of I would had been here they would had taken it, also ove seen people offer these workers money to take any type of trash and they take it, I will appreciate and expect someone to come get this garbage at 403 north 6th street because I will not put it back in after all the work it took it to bring it out, thank you

I think it is time for a new person to be voted into the Department of Ciziten Services. Mr. Ramos, you have no idea of what the Department of Ciziten Services are doing. What one has to endure to get answers from your county workers is a disgrace to this City. When you have become disconnected from the public, you no longer deserve to be a public servant. I’m not sure what the problem is however, not everyone is a generational welfare recipient, and the way that people are being handled is down right disgusting.

It’s time for new faces in these Municipal seats in Newark, and maybe you should be the first one to leave. I suggest that you handle the business at hand or expect to be voted out next voting term.

Left a note on here the other day and not a thing has been done about this illegal food truck on the corner of roseville avenue and first avenue that sells illegal liquor, plays loud music into the night and HAS PEOPLE HANGING OUT WITH NO PERMIT PLAYING DOMINOS AND BLOCKING STREET TRAFFIC. It’s a public nuisance and a blight on our otherwise quiet neighborhood. Come on councilman do what we elected you to do and get someone on this.

    Dear Councilman Ramos,

My mother who is 94 years old has asked you several times to have the street sign of her friend Carol White put back up. I do believe that you have visited the Branch Brook Plaza a few times and she has asked you about it. So far you’ve done nothing. Please take care of this sir because you don’t want the elderly ladies talkin negative about you.

    Thank you

    Dear Councilman Ramos,

I am writing you regarding the weekly basketball tournaments that are being held on N. 13th Street.

Saturday night there was a shooting after the tournament was over. I read a news article that says the shooting has nothing to do with the tournament. However, I believe they are not telling the truth. The 1st tournament that was held, the DJ had to stop them from arguing. Maybe 2 weeks after that, a large crowd was going to fight, but the police were patrolling the streets and arrived on time to stop them.

I love to see our city doing positive things for the community. I was happy to see them building the basketball court. However, having this event in this neighborhood is not a good idea. People are sitting on homeowner’s porches and cars. They sit their food and drinks on cars and leave it their. The entire block is covered with trash. The game was Saturday, it is now Monday and trash is still on the street. When are they coming to clean this mess up? This is not fair to the residence on this block. The DJ’s music is loud and the crowd is loud. We are entitled to have peace and quiet on the weekend. We’ve worked hard all week, we don’t want to hear that noise on the weekend. And this event is going to be held every Saturday. Give us a break! This event should be held at Branchbrook Park.

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    Ms. Jones

    Dear Councilman Anibal Ramos.

I have been living in Newark NJ for over 60 years at 163 Elwood Ave. I bought the house that I grew up in. I recently decided that it was time for me to retire. I put my six-unit apartment up for sale. Submitted

my payment to get the building CCO and the fire department.

I was told that the zoning department refused to approve the request. When I went down to zoning to find out why the answer was NO. I was told by Susan Brown that the last two permits taken out were for a 3-family house and a 1 family.

I explained that I have seven electric meters that had been updated in 2004 permit 1369 and it had an approved sticker on the board. Also, there was an approved sticker from 5/11/66 permit 9467, for an upgrade.

I went to the tax office who had the building listed as a six unit. The rent control office had it listed as a six unit. The property record office had it listed as a six. I took copies if you would like to review.

My house has been inspected every 5 years by the NJ State department of community affairs. Susan Brown told me that all this paper work did not mean anything. When I ask her what paper work was needed she said 3 stories 3 family. I never got an answer to my question of what paper work was needed.

Can your office help? I would like to come in and show you all the paper work.

    Regards

We have lived in Newark nj all our lives and we purchased our home in 2003. never had any real issues until now. There is an auto repair shop at 512 roseville avenue newark that just moved in and are wreaking havoc on our residential area. They roll joints and smoke weed during daylight hours. They have cars parked everywhere and even on the sidewalk illegally while our children walk to and from school. They also park a trailer that they use as a food truck which sells illegal liquor and probably do not have a license to operate. They have tables setup and blast music all night even on Sundays and play dominos and drink in the middle of the sidewalk. They are parked at the corner of first avenue and roseville. Just steps away from the precinct that just opened and they do not respond. Our quality of life has gone down and we are thinking of moving. Please do something about this blight in our neighborhood. We need help asap please. I am afraid for my daughters as they walk through this mess.

Whatever profit the city may have derived for allowing the Sopranos “prequel” to be filmed here was offset by the intangible cost of having public attention drawn once again to the 1967 rebellion. Many people living just a few miles away think of “the riots” whenever they hear the name “Newark.” The broadcasting of “Saints of Newark” will reinforce that association, which has been impeding the Newark Renaissance for 52 years.

I’m having issues with water department. I submitted water for pickup in October/November and waited the 30 days indicated and started to reach out for results only to find out last month that another sample is needed. No reason was given. I called to request pickup forMay 2 and the water has been sitting on my porch as was requested for 10 days and counting. I have a 2 year old son and I understand lead can affect young children the most. Please help us.
