My mother who is 94 years old has asked you several times to have the street sign of her friend Carol White put back up. I do believe that you have visited the Branch Brook Plaza a few times and she has asked you about it. So far you’ve done nothing. Please take care of this sir because you don’t want the elderly ladies talkin negative about you.
Thank you
I am writing you regarding the weekly basketball tournaments that are being held on N. 13th Street.
Saturday night there was a shooting after the tournament was over. I read a news article that says the shooting has nothing to do with the tournament. However, I believe they are not telling the truth. The 1st tournament that was held, the DJ had to stop them from arguing. Maybe 2 weeks after that, a large crowd was going to fight, but the police were patrolling the streets and arrived on time to stop them.
I love to see our city doing positive things for the community. I was happy to see them building the basketball court. However, having this event in this neighborhood is not a good idea. People are sitting on homeowner’s porches and cars. They sit their food and drinks on cars and leave it their. The entire block is covered with trash. The game was Saturday, it is now Monday and trash is still on the street. When are they coming to clean this mess up? This is not fair to the residence on this block. The DJ’s music is loud and the crowd is loud. We are entitled to have peace and quiet on the weekend. We’ve worked hard all week, we don’t want to hear that noise on the weekend. And this event is going to be held every Saturday. Give us a break! This event should be held at Branchbrook Park.
Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Ms. Jones
Dear Councilman Anibal Ramos.
I have been living in Newark NJ for over 60 years at 163 Elwood Ave. I bought the house that I grew up in. I recently decided that it was time for me to retire. I put my six-unit apartment up for sale. Submitted
my payment to get the building CCO and the fire department.
I was told that the zoning department refused to approve the request. When I went down to zoning to find out why the answer was NO. I was told by Susan Brown that the last two permits taken out were for a 3-family house and a 1 family.
I explained that I have seven electric meters that had been updated in 2004 permit 1369 and it had an approved sticker on the board. Also, there was an approved sticker from 5/11/66 permit 9467, for an upgrade.
I went to the tax office who had the building listed as a six unit. The rent control office had it listed as a six unit. The property record office had it listed as a six. I took copies if you would like to review.
My house has been inspected every 5 years by the NJ State department of community affairs. Susan Brown told me that all this paper work did not mean anything. When I ask her what paper work was needed she said 3 stories 3 family. I never got an answer to my question of what paper work was needed.
Can your office help? I would like to come in and show you all the paper work.

Re:NCAP Ward Meetings/Support for our CCRB
Dear Councilman Ramos,
On Wednesday evening, October 10th, we invite to come and greet the community as we host the fourth of five of our Ward based community feedback forums as we continue to build support for our Civilian Complaint Review Board.
Our meeting for the North Ward will take place at the Lombardi Center, 201 Bloomfield Avenue. from 6 to 8pm.
We want you to remind the community that we, the people of the City of Newark, created our new Board through an ordinance that was unanimously passed by our City Council in 2016, and that our continued unity is important as the fight for the Board continues in the Courts.
I can be reached at 973 202 0745
Thank you in advance.
Zayid Muhammad
NCAP Organizer
I would like to meet with you in regards to the Newark Fire Department and the next academy.
Thank you.
It sounds like an explosion everytime even a car goes into and out of these series of potholes.
Someone on a motorcycle or a bike in the dark can get SERIOUSLY INJURED. At this point it is a public health issue.
