For Immediate Release NEWARK MUNICIPAL COUNCIL WORKS TO RESOLVE PERSONNEL CONTROVERSY IN POLICE DEPARTMENT "North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos, Jr. Calls for Meeting With Mayor Cory Booker to Clarify Leadership Roles" March 13, 2008—(Newark, NJ) North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos, Jr. is leading the charge to resolve the personnel controversy in the Newark Police Department. Ramos along with the other eight members of the council are scheduled to meet with Mayor Cory Booker on Tuesday during the council’s special meeting, which begins at 10am in the conference room. “My colleagues and I want to ensure that the personnel issues of late do not distract the department from their daily duties of securing residents. Through this meeting we hope to prevent any usurping of power in the police department going forward because it is imperative that the officers entrusted with the well-being of our city are comfortable and confident in their roles,” explains Ramos.
