I live on Degraw Avenue and since the route on Verona was changed to a one way street ( due to cars crashing into a home there) my street has become extremely busy. The average car speed between Grafton to Heller is between 38 – 42 mph. In a 25 mile an hour zone. We have those white slow lines in our street, but alas they are of no use at slowing traffic. There are 15 children who live on this stretch of Degraw Avenue.

Could you possibly see if it’s in the budget to have at least 2 speed bumps installed. You know the kind where they build up the asphalt.

I’m afraid that one of these children are going to get hurt.

It would be wonderful if it could be done soon as the children are out of school now and the traffic is very heavy.

    Thank you for your time,

This is to thank the Councilman for attending the closing “party” of the Artfront Galleries show at the Waterfront Rec Center on Grafton Ave. His support gives us the credibility we need to produce pop up, not for profit gallery space in all of Newark’s neighborhoods. Special thanks to Sam Gonzalez for his assistance. We look forward to working with the councilman and with the Recreation Center to make Newark an “art destination” at the level of Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. The talent is here in Newark; we need walls and space to make it accessible.

    Hello Mr.Ramos

I am a parent who lives on n 10 th st I son has a basketball court out on the st where all the neighborhood kids play . They do not bother no one they play they do not cause any problems. And today Newark police came to try to take there court away . And give me a 500.00 fine for being the owner of they court he called for back up 6 cop cars came 12 police officer were there . Now my thing is that the kids are not doing anything wrong. Staying off the street corners . They have no place to go and play as parents what are we to about this we pay our taxes . There is more crime being done in Newark for them to be out here harassing the kids like they are doing something wrong I drive in the streets of Newark and see basketball courts in the streets all over so why is it a problem for them to have one .

I want immediate action taken on the abandoned property next to my house. The house now has squatters and is dangerous. I have already contactedcontacted the Essex County director and will now contact Senator Booker. It is a disgrace that Newark seems to feel we in Newark should accept this deplorable situation for ourselves and our families.

For the month of May, Artfront Galleries, a not for profit visual arts group, will be doing an exhibition of local and regional artists work at the Waterfront Rec center on Grafton.

We hope to hold a small “opening” celebration on the first Friday and hope that you and or your staff will turn out in support of the Arts and the Rec Center. On Monday, I will be dropping a small package of promotional material at your Mt Prospect St office.

    Dear Councilman Ramos,

Please be advised that there are deep potholes all along Grafton Ave between Mt. Prospect Ave and the entrance to Route 21 South. More major potholes can be found along the road from Route 21 South, Exit 5 all the way to the entrance to Route 21 South at Grafton Ave. It is very dangerous as people often go into the lane of opposing traffic trying to avoid these potholes. Hoping this can be remedied soon. Thank you,

There are HORRIBLE potholes all over Roseville Ave area from Bloomfield ave to way passed Park Ave and including N6th, N7th, through N.13th.

In the last snow storm, the streets were NOT PLOWED NOR SALTED

I have to wash my clothes by hand because I can’t take the cart to the laundromat because of the piles of dirty icy snow.. GOD WILLING there won’t be any more snow falling and once the garbage melts away, I can go to the laundromat once again.

Greetings, I’ve notice some great artwork being created lower part of Broadway. Are there any plans to have similar works done between 3rd ave and Broadway for other businesses. Furthermore are there any funds or aid being provided to help maintain some north ward historical homes?

I have a city oak tree in front of my house with two dead limbs extending across the sidewalk. I’m really concerned that someone may be seriously injured walking by should one of these break off. My home is at 239 Elwood Ave. and there is a lot of foot traffic walking under these branches. Please help me with this situation.

I love the city that I’ve called home since the day I landed from my homeland PR. I would like to get involved in committees and community activities that will showcase how great of a city Newark is and will continue to be as we continue to grow and prosper .
