The Newark Municipal Council unanimously approved a resolution that calls for authorizing the city to suspend the business license of Russian-owned Lukoil gas stations in Newark.
The measure was prompted by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last week in violation of international law.
Lukoil North America is a subsidiary of PJSC Lukoil, a Russian oil and gas company with deep ties to the Russian Federation and Russian oligarchs aligned with President Vladimir Putin. Lukoil operates two gas stations in Newark, both on McCarter Highway.
