Ramos-Ruiz Statement on Protests in Puerto Rico
State Sen. M. Teresa Ruiz and North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos Jr. issued the following statement today on the protests in Puerto Rico.
"On a day where possibly the largest demonstration in the history of Puerto Rico is taking place, we stand in solidarity with those protesting and in support of more than 3 million brothers and sisters living on our island. The resignation of Governor Ricardo A. Rosselló is an important step in the process of restoring confidence between the government of Puerto Rico and its residents.
City of Newark Recruiting for Police Officers
Want to become a police officer in the Newark? The city is recruiting for police officers, but in order to be considered, you must pass a written test called the Law Enforcement Examination (LEE).
The New Jersey Civil Service Commission will begin accepting applications to take the exam starting on July 1, 2019. The application period will run through Aug. 31, 2019.
North Ward Gets New Police Precinct
North Ward residents are getting a second police precinct, which opened today at Newark Schools Stadium, North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos Jr. announced today.
Ramos joined Mayor Ras J. Baraka, West Ward Councilman Joseph McCallum, Councilman-at-large Luis Quintana, Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose and Chief of Police Darnell Henry for the grand opening of the 7th Precinct, located in a two-story building at 159 North 10th Street.
