Blizzard 2016

Newark was hit with more than two feet of snow. Please let us know about the City of Newark's response to the storm. Let us know what street you live on, what time it was plowed and whether it is passable now. We'll forward any complaints about streets not being plowed directly to administration of Mayor Ras Baraka. We'll compile this information so we know what the problems areas are for the next storm and work with the administration to better address these areas.

I live on highland ave and its Monday and our street still hasn’t been plowed! I can’t even get off my block! This is ridiculous the city of Newark needs to think about the side street that didn’t get plowed people live on them too not only on the main roads!

Terrible, 2 days after the snow and Sussex Avenue is full of snow, I haven’t seen one snow plow on this street. I don’t believe residents should be treated this way after we pay our taxes. Were do our tax money go?

This is horrible I am forced to call out from work and loose money due to the failure of this mayor commitment to his word that the streets would be clean by 5pm Sunday. I reside on N 7th and park Ave no plow what’s so ever I event tried to walk to the local supermarket and couldn’t make it because it was not safe

Its 8:10 am on 1-25-16 and still no plow on my street. I live directly across a charter school on s. 9th street and there is about two feet of snow. Cars are buried and walls of snow block cars. This is redicoulous and unacceptable. But the cross street Central ave was plowed several times. What is going to happen tomorrow when this school open and parents cant get through to drop off their kids or people who live on this street cant get out. Even the business owners on this street were not able to open their businesses because they could not get through. Two days later and still we are at a stand still. Someone dropped the ball.

2days after and st is still under 2ft of snow is unacceptable. If anyone on my block had an emergency, fire or medical need there is no way to leave or get to the necessary location to get help.

This is so ridiculous! It is Monday; January 25th at 7:20am and our streets on Parker have not been plowed yet! This is the first time in almost 10 years we have experienced this.

It seems that there is no leadership. Newark was not organized and prepared. All of the other cities have it done already. We have to go to work and can’t. If we lose our jobs is the City going to pay us!!Really.

Making excuses that people/car are on the street is why u can’t plow is full of crap. People are always out! Where does our tax dollars go?

    WHAT IS GOING ON!!?

I live in the central ward. Fairmount Ave off of 14th Ave. Not a single plow truck has made any attempt to clean my block. We are all literally tramped in our homes. No one is able to drive on this block. Last night an ambulance had to remain on the corner (beginning of the block) and struggle to walk into the block and then struggle to carry out the dead body of the victim. Monday morning and we all have work to go to, how do you expect us to do this? Send us plow trucks please!!!! The mayor says he has plows out 24/7. Lies!!! Nothing has been done in my area!!!!

N 12th St never got plowed. It’s a small one way and there’s too much snow to drive through. We were even on Channel 41 Univision yesterday. There were about 4 cars my husband had to help move because they were all stuck for hours. We still need the truck to come and plow.

Not one truck has been on my street. I live on hanford street near dayton. We are always the last to receive any type of help, same thing happened during sandy, the last to receive lights. I have to go to work and dont know if my car is going to make it off my street. Im not sure why there isn’t enough equipment when we were warned of a snow storm coming and also why wasn’t more equipment added into the budget.

The Worst, streets did not get plowed good at all. They waited till people started shoveling their sidewalks and driveways…then the useless inconsiderate plow people just pushed the snow right back into the driveways, INSTEAD of plowing as the snow was falling and soft so it can easily be pushed.

Most side streets didn’t even get plowed.

My biggest beef is that, where I live they make everybody move their car off the road…STILL TO NOT PLOW THE ENTIRE STREET!? I don’t understand.

Then Irvington police come down the block ticketing every car on the street.

If you gonna plow, do it right! Especially if theirs no cars on the road.

Didn’t even start putting salt on the road till around 5pm today.

    Waste of tax money!

The streets don’t get paved right, it’s not that hard of a job for these over paid workers that can’t do it right.

Then they put up speed bumps every where…

If speed bumps can go up on every other street and all the side streets, their SHOULDNT be any holes in the street.

Numerous wheels/tires have been messed up thanks to Newark/Irvington streets, Acura wheels aren’t cheap. 300 for 1 wheel from the dealer, 180 bucks for a new tire.

It’s ridiculous how bad some of the streets are.

Us working people pay enough taxes for these simple things to be done right.

Instead of hiring all these lazy people get people that want to work and get paid to do the job right…

Or.. All this advertisement about the city, Newark has a lot of things going for it but it’s the simple thing of keeping it clean which messes it up, besides the people.

It needs to go back that way! Clean up!

All these old 50 year old workers should be doing office stuff or something where they don’t have to take a break every 15 mins cause they out of breath. It’s ridiculous some of the things I see.

The mayor and everyone else doesn’t seem to understand how terrible this is and y’all have not learned yet. Even the system that was there to track obviously showed that not all trucks were being used nor where they currently were. Leo Pl not plowed. Vernon looks as if someone with a regular snow blower did it, along with Nairn. Unacceptable, and don’t say because people were in the way around here. The people in this area have been shoveling whatever they could for 2 days, waiting for plows to come so we all could finish the other sides of cars here. Where have you guys been? I would think that you would have all trucks and their drivers on actual standby and not wait until Sunday afternoon to start. And then do the main streets for what, when no one can get to those streets because you haven’t plowed others. Completely ridiculous! Things like this keep people out of work. And to repeatedly tell news stations and people online that things have actually gotten accomplished is complete BS. You guys were not prepared.

I am disappointed by newarks response to this storm. We had ample time to prepare for this one as that was all anyone was talking about for at least a week before hand. It’s is 1:45 am on MONDAY morning and still, NO PLOW HAS COME. This is unacceptable. There is no way any car with out 4 wheel drive and snow tires can make it down this street. In other words, residents are stuck! I understand that Newark is very big, with lots of residents and that stranded people took precedent on Saturday. However, I have waited another 20 hours and still no response. I live on Fairmount ave between 13th and south orange.
