Blizzard 2016

Newark was hit with more than two feet of snow. Please let us know about the City of Newark's response to the storm. Let us know what street you live on, what time it was plowed and whether it is passable now. We'll forward any complaints about streets not being plowed directly to administration of Mayor Ras Baraka. We'll compile this information so we know what the problems areas are for the next storm and work with the administration to better address these areas.

Mt. Prospect Ave in between Bloomfield Ave and Park Ave has not been touched at all. There is no way that my car can get out. It’s not even snow anymore it is ice. Can u please send a plow to do the job. So many of them passing through Bloomfield Ave and Park Ave but are not plowing anything because there is nothing more to plow there. My block needs it..

As a resident of newark in forest hills it was embarrassing. A main street like Mt prospect ave hasn’t been touched but brand brook park was completely clear. As I went to kearny I couldn’t help to see all street were clean. Slated and plowed. Some side streets were hard to drive through but it’s a no Brainer. Now once I crossed the Bellville border into newark a completely different scene. I am enraged on how all you see cleaning up were local newark resident who pay high rent. We pay the highest tax in the nation and to see that our resident were left to fend for them selves. Children, mothers, sons father’s and daughter shoveling corners!! Corners I tell you because this damn city didn’t do what it was suppose to do. I have never seen resident pull together to clean city property just to help themselves as well as other drivers have a semi clear road to drive. I’m sick on how the city forgets who help make this city. Our city of newark should have never suffered the way it did. I’m sick and tired of our residents being set aside and left us to fend for our selves. I say remove our so called acting mayor and put some one in office who will put our city first and not last. Oh by the way did you know Uber posted on its link due to Newarks unsafe driving conditions no Uber driving will be permitted to drive into newark or travel through the city. Why? Because we were the only city who wasn’t plowed. I’ve lived in newark all my life and I’m just sick. Sick and tired of newark always being let down by false leader who say they promise to care for our city. This letter may fall on death ears but as a city of great we will stand up and say enough is enough. Regardless what background, what income level we come from we are a city of many and I’m proud to say newark will always be a beacon of diversity and greatness. We will not tolerate this and I promise that we will set our own committee and bring this to the highest court. Get media involved to stand up as a city and say we deserve better than this!!!!

It is 7:17pm Bryant St in Newark still has not gotten plowed.. we we’re told it was going to be plowed between 4 to 5PM still no plow.. supposedly there are all these plows out well where the hell are they cause I have not seen one yet… I have to work tomorrow and I can’t get my car out.. is the city going to pay me for missing work? With all the taxes that we pay we should have better results..

Newark plowing system sucks. Why are other cities cleared and Newark still has not even plowed 3/4 of the streets. We need to get to work because some of us are not lucky enough to have jobs like yours. Sincerely an angry resident Broome st needs to be plowed.

I live on highland avenue off of park avenue. The street has NOT been plowed. I think the city of Newark should have made some sort of preparation for all secondary/side streets, so that residents could have been a little more productive in the clean up process. Our REAL clean up will begin tomorrow at dawn because on top of having to redig our vehicles out…we have to insure that we make it to work on time. Thats if we actually get a plow thru here sometime tonight.

How about the boarder of north Newark and west ward Littleton Ave and 12th Ave? We r stuck and no trucks have passed at least once. We have cars stuck in the middle of the street and we have to help them get out. Come this way. We are by the hospital.

Woodside Avenue between Montclair Ave and Grafton Ave has not been plowed. It’s a two way street that only one car can drive threw it. Also, just a reminder that on Montclair Ave between Mt. Prospect Ave and Woodside Avenue (along the side of the church) school kids are picked up by the school bus and taken to the Elliott Street School Annex. Make sure the they do a better job of removing the the snow because last year the city did a horrible job! That section looked like a one way street with the buses lined up to pick up the kids. Thank you and stay safe.

I live in the East Ward and unfortunately our councilman is Horrendous! Since the start of the snowfall we haven’t seen a plow as of yet and it is now 7:30 PM Sunday evening. For the taxes that we pay this is on inexcusable.

Snow removal was disappointing to say the least! Berkeley Avenue still hasn’t been plowed nor treated. We had to pay someone to plow half of it so a neighbor who’s a doctor can get to Lake street. Clifton Avenue was also a mess.

I am so disappointed in the way this storm was delt with. Knowing of this storm the city was no where near prepared or took the necessary measures to make sure we were all able to get to our jobs. I am a State Correction officer and was unable to make it to my job, and to make matters worse i was notified i was being forced to take one of my AL days. Am i going to be replaced for my forced day off? I am always saving my AL days for incase of any family emergency and i am truly upset at the fact i had to use it for the incompetence of the street cleaning.

This city is a disgrace. Not one snow plow has come to clean my street and it is now 7pm Sunday night. Clifton Ave & Heller parkway is a mess! How the hell did this city not prepare for this storm? No salt was spread the night before, no snow plows. This is ridiculous.

No plowing on Ridge Street between 2nd Ave. and Abington Avenue since the beginning of Blizzard 2016. Is it the same in other Wards? How is it possible that so many Streets in the North Ward were not plowed after more than 24 hours. It is now 7:00 pm Sunday evening.
