The City Council unanimously approved legislation today to create a business improvement district along Bloomfield Avenue and Lower Broadway in the North and Central wards.
The BID designation will allow the city to impose a special assessment on commercial properties within the district with the goal promoting employment and economic growth as well as better residential property maintenance.

North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos Jr. announced his intention to run for a fourth term on the City Council during a fundraiser Tuesday that raised more than $150,000.
Ramos is the first member of the City Council to publicly announce his intention to run in the May 2018 election. The announcement ends speculation that he would make another bid for mayor. Ramos ran for mayor in 2014 before withdrawing and endorsing Shavar Jeffries.
