Newark City Council Passes Resolution Opposing State Legislation Limiting Charter School Growth
The Newark City Council today passed a resolution sponsored by Councilman Anibal Ramos Jr. opposing a bill under consideration in the state Assembly that would restrict the growth of charter schools in the state.
The council passed the resolution opposing Assembly bill 4351 by a vote of 7-2 with Council President Mildred Crump and South Ward Councilman John James voting no.

Newark Councilman Anibal Ramos Jr., a former member of the Newark Public Schools Advisory Board and a strong supporter of quality public schools, today announced he is opposed to a bill in the state Assembly that would limit the growth of existing charter school in the state.
Ramos, who represents the city’s North Ward, said he plans to introduce a resolution opposing the passage of A4351 introduced by Assembly Education Committee chairman Patrick Diegnan (D-Middlesex) and Assemblywoman Mila Jasey (D-Essex).
