Ramos Co-Sponsors Wage Theft Legislation
Legislation co-sponsored by North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos Jr. that allows Newark to protect workers from having their wages stolen by employers was introduced by the City Council.
The legislation, co-sponsored by Councilman-at-Large Eddie Osborne, would allow the City of Newark to suspend or revoke business licenses of employers found to be in violation of state laws governing proper compensation for employees.

Councilman Anibal Ramos Jr. today praised a Newark developer who converting a derelict industrial site in the North Ward into a new $12 million residential community of 25 Victorian-style multi-family homes.
Ramos credited Manny Rosa for transforming the site of the former Newark Wire Cloth Co. Building in the northern-most section of Newark into the Enchanted Victorian Village, the city’s first market-rate, detached-home development in more than a generation. A ceremonial ribbon cutting was held today.

Now, another hospital in Newark that many of us in the North Ward use may also be forced to shut down. A report commissioned by the administration of Gov. Chris Christie recommends that Saint Michael’s Medical Center in the Central Ward be closed as an acute care hospital.
